LED Day 60

So thankful for the countdown the aerogarden has...otherwise I would have lost count of the days long long ago...
My strawberry plant is blooming!
You know that lemon mint I planted about a month ago? The plant is tiny but I still harvested a few leaves. I put them on a frozen pizza...the kids didn't want them so I got to eat them all...and it was delicious.
Total so far is three flowers! So I have three future strawberries... yay
This upsets me. I was walking in the garden center at WalMart and I saw these. AeroGarden sells 25ft of these for $7.95 ( I purchased mine at 20% off with free shipping) WalMart sells the same thing but 5 less feet for $2.97!!! I had never seen this before. I had no idea anything like this existed so I was thrilled when I purchased it from AeroGarden. So if you are buying it off season then sure get it from AeroGarden because you won't find it anywhere else but if you can... wait until WalMart has it for half the price.

LED Day 55

This is my garden. Starting to be overcrowded...think someone needs to have a salad

I have tons of little cucumbers growing. Going to say there are 30 - 40 growing right now!

Planted some tomatoes. Then I thinned them and it was fine until I pulled the last little seedling off I broke the main plant :(  these were planted a little over two weeks ago!!!
There is the little lemon mint being overcrowded by the lettuce plants.
So I trimmed them a little

This is my Mom's tomatoes. Hers were planted on the 24th of March
Last and most fun of all! My strawberry plant is starting to produce fruit! Then I told you guys last week how AeroGarden was sending me a replacement part because my light was not staying attached in my garden. Its here!

LED Day 51

My gardens were getting a little overgrown. Look at all the stuff I trimmed off.

That's a quarter! My cucumber plant was taking over so I took off a few branches. I still have lots and lots left over. Really looking forward to some cucamelons.

Can you see how the middle plant is taller and fatter than the other two? The one on the inside had the lights closer (as far down as the AeroGarden would allow) and the other two had it a bit higher. See the difference in two weeks from seed!
here is my strawberry plant! Wow it sure has gotten big. Thinking about getting rid of the two older lettuce plants and allowing the strawberry plant some room to expand.
That is a dime. Now you can really see how big my strawberry plant is getting!
There is the dime again showing you my little cucumber plant. Grow little buddy; I want to eat you! Finally this is my lettuce harvest. I added the two baby carrots so you could see how much I was able to harvest. YUM

Amazing Customer Service AeroGarden!

I called AeroGarden because my Ultra LED was gaining time... 3 to 6 hrs a day!!!! Figured out the problem was that when I lost power not long ago it reset my pump cycles and was messing up the times. Then she told me they were working on a fix and would start manufacturing the parts that are causing the problem and would send them to us shortly after! Awesome!
Then I told her how my new Ultra the light plug was so sensitive it kept falling off when I touched it. They are going to figure out what the problem is and send me something to fix it!!! Thanks AeroGarden!!!!

LED Day 43

I hadn't paid much attention to my AeroGarden for a couple days and a few more that I hadn't harvested my lettuce plants. The bigger lettuce plants were shading the littler ones. I am sure I am not supposed to but new pods with bigger plants but some of my other pods didn't grow and with the addition of a new garden i made some adjustments. Can you tell how the smaller lettuce plants are taller? That's because the lamp is up higher than it should be. I don't want to lower it any because of the cucumber plant growing so much.
My cucumber plant grows way past the where the light it. Can't raise it though because the other plants need it down farther. So they are doing the best with what they have.

I have lined the side and bottom with aluminum foil. Hoping that will give the cucumber plant some extra lighting since it has really spread!

Bee Garden update

After almost two months of salad greens my Mom decided she needed to get started on her tomatoes! She always spent money getting decent sized tomato plants to put out in the spring. We live in Iowa so our spring right now is cold. It snowed today and the high tomorrow is 20 degrees. So while many places around the country are planting outdoors we are starting seedlings indoors. I told her this year we would do tomatoes on the aerogarden! So with my grow anything seed kit(love it!) I was able to plant some tomato seeds! In a month when the weather warms up she will have healthy good sized tomato plants!
First I lifted the top completely off. See the nasty buildup on the bottom? Yuck.
Took the whole bowl out and most of that gunk came right off. I didn't have to scrub it or anything.  Then planted some tomato seeds. Nothing major. I did forget to put in the paper labels. I know it helps when they are seedlings but once the plants mature it doesn't matter.

I carefully placed 3 seeds in each pod and told my Mom we could buy some jiffy cups and when we pull out some seedlings she can have a couple more sharing the aerogarden's light!
